The digital SAT’s Arithmetic portion is intended to assess students’ mastery of essential math knowledge and abilities needed for college and the workplace.With the exception of the PSAT 8/9, which does not test trigonometry, the digital SAT Suite Math part concentrates on fundamental concepts in algebra, advanced math, problem-solving and data analysis, geometry, and trigonometry that research shows are essential for success in college and the workplace.

Students respond to multiple-choice and student-produced response (SPR) questions in the Math section of the test to demonstrate their knowledge of, proficiency with, and ability to apply the math concepts, skills, and practices that are most crucial for being prepared for entry-level postsecondary work.

A context is used in about 30% of math questions. You must think about a scientific, social studies, or real-world scenario and use your arithmetic abilities and knowledge, coupled with a grasp of the context, to discover the answers to each of these in-context “word” questions.

**Digital Math Questions **

Each of the four following content areas is represented with a question in the digital Math section:

**Algebra**: Evaluates the student’s proficiency in the analysis, fluent solution, and creation of linear equations, inequalities, and equations and systems of equations.

**Advanced Math:** Assesses knowledge and abilities necessary for advancing to more advanced math courses, including proving one’s proficiency with absolute value, quadratic, exponential, polynomial, rational, radical, and other nonlinear equations.

**Measures the capacity for applying quantitative reasoning to ratios, rates, and proportional relationships**; comprehending and using unit rates; and analyzing and interpreting data with one and two variables.

**Measures the capacity to work through problems** involving circles, angles, triangles, and trigonometry as well as area and volume

Each test module contains questions from all four content domains. Each module’s questions are ranked from easiest to hardest so that every test taker has the best chance to show off their knowledge and skills.
